Expoziția „Forme în timp – viitorul nostalgiei” prezintă lucrări din Colecția de Artă Telekom, o colecție fondată în 2010 care se adresează artei din estul și sud-estul Europei. Expoziția este o reflecție asupra istoriei și memoriei: cine este agentul producerii și scrierii istoriei în țările din spatele fostei Cortine de Fier? Care dintre subiectele acestei istorii au intrat în uitare? O bună parte din lucrările cuprinse în această expoziție de grup se referă la (re)scrierea istoriei (și mai ales a ceea ce lipsește din ea), implicând adeseori angajamente politice și sociale. Parte dintre artiștii selectați meditează asupra propriilor experiențe personale, uneori traumatice; procedând astfel, ei ne readuc în memorie anumite momente politice și construcții utopice ale trecutului. Atingând mutațiile profunde pe care le-au traversat în ultimii 25 de ani țările din estul și sud-estul Europei, schimbarea societății și speranțele atașate transformării sistemelor lor politice, lucrările incluse în expoziția „Forme în timp – viitorul nostalgiei” ridică problema rolului pe care îl joacă artistul în relație cu societatea și a căutării unor noi strategii artistice în interiorul ei.

Expoziția propune și un program de prezentări și dezbateri, invitând artiști și curatori să mediteze asupra diferitelor planuri care o constituie. Seria de prezentări debutează cu artistul croat Igor Grubić și cu artista bosniacă Šejla Kamerić. Ei vor vorbi despre practica lor artistică și despre lucrările proprii, altele decât cele incluse în expoziția Shape of Time – Future of Nostalgia. Prezentările lor vor fi moderate de Nathalie Hoyos și Rainald Schumacher (Office for Art).

Šejla Kamerić (1976, Sarajevo, Bosnia și Herzegovina) a studiat la Academia de Arte din Sarajevo. Una din sursele principale ale practicii ei artistice o constituie felul în care a trăit experiența asediului orașului său natal între 1992 și 1996.

Igor Grubić (1969, Zagreb, Croația) lucrează cu video, fotografie, acțiuni și performance în cadrul unei practici care are loc adesea în spațiul public. Grubić trăiește și lucrează în Zagreb, iar lucrările lui ating probleme politice, chestionând starea curentă a societății contemporane.

Office for Art sunt Nathalie Hoyos și Rainald Schumacher, curatori și organizatori de expoziții stabiliți în Berlin, consultanți pentru colecții private și corporatiste de artă. Din 2010, Office for Art este consultant al Colecției de Artă Telekom, curatoriind expoziția Fragile Sense of Hope (me Collectors Room Berlin, 2014).

The exhibition “Shape of Time – Future of Nostalgia” at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest presents works of the Art Collection Telekom. Founded in 2010, the collection concentrates on the art of Eastern- and South Eastern Europe. The group show “Shape of Time – Future of Nostalgia” reflects on history and memory: who is responsible for writing the history of the countries behind the former Iron Curtain? Which are the historical and memorial subjects that fade into oblivion? Many of the works selected for the show deal with the issue of (re)writing - sometimes forgotten parts of - the history, often involving political and social matters. Some of the artists reflect on their personal, at times traumatic experiences and in doing so, they remind us of specific political movements and utopias of the past. By tackling the deep changes the countries of Eastern- and South Eastern Europe underwent over the last 25 years, the transformation of their societies, and the hopes linked to the change of their political systems, the works in ‘Shape of Time – Future of Nostalgia’ bring up the question of the role the artist in the contemporary world and the search for new artistic strategies.

A program of talks accompanies the exhibition, inviting artists and curators to reflect on the different layers of the show. The series of talks starts with Croatian artist Igor Grubić and Bosnian artist Šejla Kamerić. Both artists will speak about their artistic practice and present some of their works that are not exhibited in “Shape of Time – Future of Nostalgia”. The talk with Igor Grubić and Šejla Kamerić will be moderated by Office for Art, Nathalie Hoyos and Rainald Schumacher.

Šejla Kamerić, born 1976 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo. The way she experienced the siege of her own hometown Sarajevo between 1992 and 1996 is one of the sources of her artistic work.

Igor Grubić was born in Zagreb, Croatia in 1969, where he is also currently living and working. His work includes video, photography, actions, performances and often takes place in the public space. Grubić´s artworks actively address political issues and question society´s current state.

Office for Art, Nathalie Hoyos and Rainald Schumacher, is a Berlin based office that curates and realizes exhibitions and consults private and corporate art collections. Since 2010, Office for Art has been advising the Art Collection Telekom and curated the exhibitions “Fragile Sense of Hope” (me Collectors Room Berlin, 2014).
